How Often Should I Post On Social Media?
Nowadays, so many companies have adopted social media marketing. They create Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts, make the first post … and fall short. What next?
The hard truth is there is no all-encompassing number of posts you should be maintaining. It depends platform to platform what your consumers will consider spam and what they will consider useful information.
The good news is we have compiled a list of social media and ideal posting frequencies for you to keep:
Ideally, you should be posting on Facebook 1-2 times per day around the time of 1:00PM-4:00PM. You should be engaging by re-sharing or curating a post every other day.
You have some elbow room in managing these posts by capping the posts at 10 times per week and, instead of posting more, promoting past posts.
Facebook users tend to engage more on weekends so if you choose to skip certain days, skip the weekdays while everybody is at work.
Instagram users will always be able to search up your content and can find it in their explore pages. For this reason, it is a good idea to post 1-2 times a day around 8:00AM-9:00AM and 2:00AM.
It isn’t as easy as other platforms to share others’ content on Instagram so if you choose to re-share, only do so when necessary. Be sure to always give credit.
Businesses should tweet minimum once a day and ideally around 15 times a day. Businesses should engage by retweeting 7 tweets per day. You can tweet once per hour roughly around general business hours from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
Because Twitter is a quicker network, you can feel free to post more but be sure to post at least once a day. Most retweets happen within the first hour of posting so don’t be shy – tweet as much as you need!
Pinterest users will see your content alongside so many other pins. A good range to maintain is 3-30 pins per day with an ideal frequency of 11 pins per day. You can re-pin content from others about 5 times per day. The best times to pin are 2:00AM-4:00AM, 1:00PM-4:00PM, and 8:00PM-11:00PM.
Since Pinterest is such a personal social media, a lot of the content is filtered to fit the user’s likes. Feel free to post a lot of your own content and re-pin ideas your company supports.
Arguably one of the most business-directed social media, LinkedIn is a very straightforward platform that does not warrant spam. At most you should be posting once a day from 10:00AM-11:00AM to reach around 5 posts per week. You can engage by re-sharing every other day.
For Google+, look to maintain around 0-3 posts per day with an ideal frequency of 2 posts per day between the hours of 9:00AM-11:00AM and 12:00PM-1:00PM with a maximum of 10 posts per week. Feel free to re-share every other day.
